What traits define a good leader 5.0?

Raise your hand if you know exactly what a good Manager or Executive 5.0 should be like. I’m afraid not many of you raised your hand…

What we do know is that the future requires managers and executives to adapt to a production model focused on the interaction between humans and machines.

Badenoch + Clarke consultancy also knows this, as they conducted a barometer survey with 400 executives and managers in Spain, determining the 5 essential traits that a manager must have to successfully lead their company into the year 2030. Let’s get to it!

I must mention that there are some points on which I disagree, and I’ll explain why:

𝟏- Trust The barometer determines that one of the main traits of a manager is the ability to inspire trust in others. I’ll be honest with you, I find it difficult to understand that there is a focus on trust towards others but the key aspect of self-confidence is overlooked.

𝟐- The concept of self-confidence or self-assurance is crucial in leadership or managerial effectiveness.

𝟑- Communication.

𝟒- Managing 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬. Yes, but I want more: besides managing, you have to motivate people. As leaders, we need to know what our colleagues need in order to bring out their best.

𝟓- Deciding

In my opinion, these 5 points fall short. A 5.0 executive or manager must, in addition:

✔Have a vision and share it with your team.
✔Challenging the status quo, thinking long-term, being true to your company’s purpose and continuing to deliver value.
✔Break the rules, get away from “we do what has always been done” and embrace “we do what is right”.
✔Have a mindset, a mentality that allows them to turn challenges into opportunities and transfer them to their teams.
