A few days ago a client asked me a question that was not the first time I had been asked. I was listing one by one the advantages of implementing the Internet of Things (IoT) in a company, I admit that at that moment I had caught my breath, it’s a subject I’m passionate about!

In my day-to-day life, I detect a certain amount of confusion regarding the concepts of digitalization and Industry 4.0. Some people think that they are exactly the same thing and… Nothing could be further from the truth! First of all, it is important to know that when we talk about digitalization we are referring to Industry 3.0 and, therefore, it has nothing to do with Industry 4.0.
Detecto en mi día a día cierta confusión con relación a los conceptos de digitalización y de Industria 4.0. Hay quien cree que es exactamente lo mismo y… ¡Nada más lejos de la realidad!. De entrada, conviene saber que cuando hablamos de digitalización nos referimos a la Industria 3.0 y, por lo tanto, no tiene nada que ver con la Industria 4.0.
The IoT hype started around 2013 and we were sold the idea that by 2020 there would be 30 billion things connected to the internet. There are some who say the hype has passed, although Google Trends doesn’t say so, but… How many connected devices will actually be connected in 2021?
El hype del IoT empezó sobre el 2013 y se nos empezó a vender la moto con la idea que en 2020 habría 30 mil millones de cosas conectadas a Internet. Hay algunos que dicen que el hype ha pasado, aunque Google Trends no dice lo mismo, pero…¿Cuántos dispositivos conectados realmente en 2021?
Now I wish I had a crystal ball to know your opinion before reading this post. Specifically, I would love to know what you think today’s leaders in Spain base their decisions on.
